Shark Tale (Widescreen Edition)

Shark Tale (Widescreen Edition) Review

Me and my mom (Kathleen) love this movie! We liked it better than Finding Nemo. Peaple fail to realize this isn't completely a kids film!

First off peaple need to stop comparing or calling this a rip-off of Finding. I don't know where this comparison is coming from. The stories aren't even alike. If peaple are gonna say DW riped-off Pixar than they should also say Pixar riped-off DW with the wild which looked like another version of madagascar to me.

Second why are peaple complaining about the propaganda in the movie. Its a underwater version of New York for peeks sake! In New York theres signs and stuff everywhere. Welcome to the real world! Oscars face is everywhere too because its showing how famous hes become.

Third peaple claim theres no message. There is a message. didn't they notice how unhappy Oscar became? ITs because dispite living his dream of being rich and famous hes not happy. Hes also unhappy because his lie is getting out of control and it put Angie in danger. Theres also a message of accepting your child no matter how different they are. In other words Lenny's vegitarian lifestyle (could be a metaphore for homosexuality). In the end Leno accepted his son dispite not liking his choices.

Next, don't get me wrong I like pixar and Dreamwork movies, but stop complaining about ST being unrealistic. Its a dang animated movie with talking fish so is Nemo! Peaple say the fish in shark tale don't look like fish, but Who the heck cares! Not all animated movies are gonna make its animals anotomically correct. Nemos not realistic either: a father fish goes to the human world to save his son with the help of vegetarian sharks, a bird who would normally be eating him, and turtles who also would normally eat him. They all talk too.

Last, -This is mostly directed to peaple on IMDb- stop critisizing peaple who like this better than Nemo. I think these are peaple who automatically shun animated movies that aren't pixar. I'm 19, in high school, and a honor roll student, so just because I love this movie it automatically makes me retarded?

Now that I've let off my frustration all I have to say is give this movie a chance if you don't like then ok don't watch anymore. If you love it buy it like I did and watch whenever you like. if your kids love it just remember that its PG and its not as bad in content as peaple try to make it seem. IF you don't believe me watch the brave little Toaster or NIHM (very good movies) and you'll see content that'll give kids nightmares.

When a shark accidentally clobbers himself, a small fish named Oscar (voiced by Will Smith, I, Robot) just happens to be around, prompting everyone to believe that he killed the shark himself. This lie soon makes Oscar a celebrity, worshipped by the general mass of fish, wooed by a glittering golddigger (Angelina Jolie, Girl, Interrupted), missed by his best friend (Renee Zellweger, Cold Mountain)--and hunted by the godfather of great whites (Robert De Niro, Goodfellas). Can a vegetarian shark named Lenny (Jack Black, School of Rock) get Oscar out of this mess? The formulaic story of Shark Tale never reaches the giddy heights of Pixar's output (Finding Nemo, Monsters Inc., Toy Story) or the freewheeling comedy of Shrek, but it's capably told and impeccably animated--the sheer technical skill is stunning. Kids won't get the mobster jokes or the other pop-culture references, but they'll enjoy it nonetheless. --Bret Fetzer A comic catch from the studio that brought you Shrek, Shark Tale is a hilarious hit and "a wonderful under-the-sea adventure for movie lovers of all ages!" (Clay Smith, Access Hollywood)

Oscar (Will Smith), a lowly tongue-scrubber at the local Whale Wash, becomes an improbable hero when he tells a great white lie. To keep his secret, Oscar teams up with an outcast vegetarian shark, Lenny (Jack Black), and the two become the most unlikely of friends. When his lie begins to unravel, it’s up to Oscar’s loyal friend Angie (Renée Zellweger) and Lenny to help him stand up to the most feared shark in the water (Robert De Niro) and find his true place in the reef.

Let me start by saying this movie is hilarious. A film in hich the entire family can enjoy with a stellar cast. Billy Crystal alone makes this film worth it.
Even though this film came out before animated films were being made in High Definition Cameras; the transfer to Blu-Ray format is flawless compared with other transfers from regular DVD's to Blu-Ray films that i have seen from the same time this movie came out. Video is pure 1080P, literally lights up your entire screen with vivid brilliant colors and Sound is fabulous. You actually get to see many details from the characters you didn't even know were there from watching the original film.

My kids loved it. This Blu-Ray version of Monsters, Inc definitely scores an "A+" in my book.

The folks at Pixar can do no wrong with Monsters, Inc., the studio's fourth feature film, which stretches the computer animation format in terms of both technical complexity and emotional impact. The giant, blue-furred James P. "Sulley" Sullivan (wonderfully voiced by John Goodman) is a scare-monster extraordinaire in the hidden world of Monstropolis, where the scaring of kids is an imperative in order to keep the entire city running. Beyond the competition to be the best at the business, Sullivan and his assistant, the one-eyed Mike Wazowski (Billy Crystal), discover what happens when the real world interacts with theirs in the form of a 2-year-old baby girl dubbed "Boo," who accidentally sneaks into the monster world with Sulley one night. Director Pete Doctor and codirectors David Silverman and Lee Unkrich follow the Pixar (Toy Story) blueprint with an imaginative scenario, fun characters, and ace comic timing. By the last heart-tugging shot, kids may never look at monsters the same, nor artists at what computer animation can do in the hands of magicians. --Doug Thomas From the Academy Award®-winning creators of TOY STORY comes the computer-animated film that captured the hearts of fans and critics everywhere. MONSTERS, INC., is "visually dazzling, action-packed, and hilarious" (Boston Herald), featuring groundbreaking animation, imaginative storytelling, and unforgettable voice talent. John Goodman stars as the lovable James P. Sullivan (Sulley) and Billy Crystal as his wisecracking best friend, Mike Wazowski. Top scarer Sulley and his enthusiastic Scare Assistant Mike work at Monsters, Inc., the largest scream-processing factory in Monstropolis. The main power source of the monster world is the collected screams of human children. Monsters believe children are dangerous and toxic, however, and they are scared silly when a little girl wanders into their world. Sulley and Mike do their best to return the girl home, but they face monstrous intrigue and some hilarious misadventures along the way. MONSTERS, INC., is "supremely clever -- fun for kids and adults alike" (CBS-TV). Treat yourself to the most entertaining movie of the year with all-new exclusive bonus features and animation for monster laughs and monster fun.

Antz

Antz Review

So I guess there was a reason I was bored by this movie when I first saw it as a kid, and thought "A Bug's Life" was better---because this ISN'T FOR KIDS. No idea why they made this the way they did---it's far too childish for adults, and far too mature for children. Adults would certainly be entertained, though.

Obviously the main theme deals far too much with adult themes involving individuality, conformity, significance, self awareness, etcetera. Loads of "Hey it's that guy/girl!" voice moments, as Woody Allen plays Z, Sylvester Stallone plays Weaver, Jennifer Lopez plays Azteca, Sharon Stone plays Princess Bala, Gene Hackman plays General Stupid, Christopher Walken plays Colonel Cutter, Danny Glover plays Barbatus in what amounts to a glorified cameo, Anne Bancroft plays the Queen, etcetera.

Me being the militant military person I am, I have some problems with General Stupid, who I named that because he is quite frankly stupid. It's not really a major storyline moment, but a major plot point, in which the Antz are sent on a blatant suicide mission to attack a Termite colony. General Stupid acknowledges this is a suicide mission. Exactly what purpose this serves is still a total mystery to me, as all it could accomplish is massacreing thousands of Ant soldiers, and provoking the Termites into war that they could ATTACK THE ANT COLONY WHICH NOW HAS LESS OR NO SOLDIERS TO DEFEND IT. Unless he wants the Colony to be destroyed, there's no logic at all in his stupidity.

The battle scene gave me the impression of an army of something like Zulu warriors (not an insult) against an army of ELEPHANTS with FLAMETHROWERS on their heads. The Antz are armed with short spears (or rather, sticks), no armor, but are fast and agile and can jump around. The Termites are gigantic and overly fat, and shoot acid from their foreheads. Either Rule of Cool superceded actual research, or there was a critical research failure, as Termites do not work that way, either in appearance or function.

Speaking of a case of either Rule of Cool/Critical Research Failure, magnifying glasses do not work that way on ants. But I figure instantly turning to ash is less brutal for kids than an ant writhing about at fast speed. Even though kids would likely do that in real life, it's a lot different when the ants are like humans.

But leaving those nitpicking things aside, this is NOT a movie for kids. The content is too mature, the faces are a bit creepy for kids (which is exactly what I thought as a kid), and even now I still don't really like the film. It's a bit too stale and too averse to maturity. But even then, I still acknowledge it's a decent film, unfortunately spoiled by being inappropriate for its target audience. It's too good for kids. LIFE IS NOT A PICNIC FOR Z, A SMALL WORKER ANT WITH VERY BIG IDEAS. WHEN Z FALLS FOR THE BEAUTIFUL PRINCESS BALA, HIS ODDS OF WINNING HER OVER ARE ONE IN A BILLION. TO GET NOTICED, HE SWITCHES PLACES WITH SOLDIER ANT WEAVER.

Not a children's movie!!!! Should have been pg-13 minimum - O. Fischer - Atlanta, GA
It starts off with a stuttering monologue by Woody Allen's character in a psychiatrist's office -- it was boring & clichéd. Fast forward 10 minutes to Sylvester Stallone's character saying "what are you b*tchin about?" *gasp* goes me....what on earth? But fortunately my child had zero interest and wasn't watching. I'm kicking myself for not paying attention to the reviews by others that mentioned the cursing -- I just saw an animated PG flick and bought it :-(

Antz - Celia Leach - Brick, New Jersey
Very cute movie. as always there is a moral at the end. Good watching

Finding Nemo Review

Believe it or not, I had never seen the whole movie of Nemo... oh my gosh... what a great movie... whole family loves it! Dau is 3... love Dori! She and the big shark (per Dad) make the flick. A delightful undersea world unfolds in Pixar's animated adventure Finding Nemo. When his son Nemo is captured by a scuba-diver, a nervous-nellie clownfish named Marlin (voiced by Albert Brooks) sets off into the vast--and astonishingly detailed--ocean to find him. Along the way he hooks up with a scatterbrained blue tang fish named Dory (Ellen DeGeneres), who's both helpful and a hindrance, sometimes at the same time. Faced with sharks, deep-sea anglers, fields of poisonous jellyfish, sea turtles, pelicans, and much more, Marlin rises above his neuroses in this wonderfully funny and nonstop thrill ride--rarely does more than 10 minutes pass without a sequence destined to become a theme park attraction. Pixar continues its run of impeccable artistic and economic success (their movies include Toy Story, A Bug's Life, Toy Story 2, and Monsters, Inc). Also featuring the voices of Willem Dafoe, Geoffrey Rush, and Allison Janney. --Bret Fetzer

Madagascar (Widescreen Edition) Review

I first started watching Madagascar when I was 10. It was out in a movie Theater. I saw this with my mother and my sister. I enjoyed that movie until I started being afraid and I was scared of when Alex was Roaring and I was so scared. My mom was I think noticing a little. I got scared the Rest of the movie and after we saw the movie out in a theater, my mom said, "You're afraid." and my mom once told me that if I am afraid, I pray or talk to my parents. I saw it again when I was 11 and I was still scared because of my usual (Roaring) and I didn't get my ears plugged. I got my eyes opened like if it were blurry and after that, I vowed not to watch it again until I get rid of my fear and for the past 2 years after I saw The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, I chose to go back to it and I was 13. While I was watching the movie, I was holding the Lucky Snowman Stick, it helps me get rid of my fear and after I saw the movie, my fear of Roaring is gone. And that is what makes me want to go back to watching The Lion King. I made my rule that the only way to see Madagascar 2 is when I get rid of my fear. Four zoo animals are shipwrecked in Madagascar.

The worst CGI animated movie you'll ever watch... - PlanetHell - USA unfortunately
I have no idea how this movie was a hit. Oh wait, because it is totally shamless, filled with endless pop culture references, and features overly cartoony animation.
Expressing how boring the movie would be hard. Nothing in the movie was funny, engaging, anything. It was just endless gags about "New York Giants," and poor animation. Nobody will remember this movie in 10 years, no one. They will turning on "Finding Nemo," "The Incredibles," "Cars," or even the recent "How To Train Your Dragon" instead. Unlike those movies, this one didn't try to have good story and characters, it just went for the lowest of the low. Only Happy Feet was more untolerable.

I first saw this movie on a standard DVD over at my friend's home who has a 7 year old kid and I liked it. When I purchased it on blu ray 4 weeks later, I loved it. The audio & picture is simply amazing, a giant leap from standard DVD to blu ray. I love the movie even more now. When it comes to both audio & picture quality, this blu ray is simply one of the best in the market, in my opinion. Hope you enjoy it, too !!!

One key point: if you can get over the natural gag reflex of seeing hundreds of rodents swarming over a restaurant kitchen, you will be free to enjoy the glory of Ratatouille, a delectable Pixar hit. Our hero is Remy, a French rat (voiced by Patton Oswalt) with a cultivated palate, who rises from his humble beginnings to become head chef at a Paris restaurant. How this happens is the stuff of Pixar magic, that ineffable blend of headlong comedy, seamless technology, and wonder (in the latter department, this movie's views of nighttime Paris are on a par with French cinema at its most lyrical). Director Brad Bird (The Incredibles) doesn't quite keep all his spinning plates in the air, but the gags are great and the animation amazingly expressive--Remy's shrugs and nods are nimbler than many flesh-and-blood actors can manage. Refreshingly, the movie's characters aren't celebrity-reliant, with the most recognizable voice coming from Peter O'Toole's snide food critic. (This fellow provides the film's sole sour note--an oddly pointed slap at critics, those craven souls who have done nothing but rave about Pixar's movies over the years.) Brad Bird's style is more quick-hit and less resonant than the approach of Pixar honcho John Lasseter, but it's hard to complain about a movie that cooks up such bountiful pleasure. --Robert Horton
