Ordered Toy Story 2 along with this DVD. These are classics that every Disney animated movie lover must have. Slowly replacing all my Disney VHS movies and these 2 DVDs came at a great price. In this 3D computer animated feature, a pull-string cowboy doll is the leader of the toys until the latest, greatest action figure enters the picture. When the toy rivals are separated from thei rowner, they ultimately learn to put aside their differences and work as a team to get back home to the boy they love.

Up (Single Disc Widescreen) Review

Showed up promptly, no scratches on disc. In fact, the disc and box looked brand new. Unfortunately it's one of those dvds with no menu or special features or anything, just the movie, but that's a problem with Disney/Pixar, not the seller :) Great find, great price.

Up (Single Disc Widescreen) Feature

  • Example Bullet Point 1
  • Example Bullet Point 2
At a time when too many animated films consist of anthropomorphized animals cracking sitcom one-liners and flatulence jokes, the warmth, originality, humor, and unflagging imagination of Up feel as welcome as rain in a desert. Carl Fredericksen (voice by Ed Asner) ranks among the most unlikely heroes in recent animation history. A 78- year-old curmudgeon, he enjoyed his modest life as a balloon seller because he shared it with his adventurous wife Ellie (Ellie Docter). But she died, leaving him with memories and the awareness that they never made their dream journey to Paradise Falls in South America. When well-meaning officials consign Carl to Shady Oaks Retirement Home, he rigs thousands of helium balloons to his house and floats to South America. The journey's scarcely begun when he discovers a stowaway: Russell (Jordan Nagai), a chubby, maladroit Wilderness Explorer Scout who's out to earn his Elderly Assistance Badge. In the tropical jungle, Carl and Russell find more than they bargained for: Charles Muntz (Christopher Plummer), a crazed explorer whose newsreels once inspired Carl and Ellie; Kevin, an exotic bird with a weakness for chocolate; and Dug (Bob Peterson), an endearingly dim golden retriever fitted with a voice box. More importantly, the travelers discover they need each other: Russell needs a (grand)father figure; Carl needs someone to enliven his life without Ellie. Together, they learn that sharing ice-cream cones and counting the passing cars can be more meaningful than feats of daring-do and distant horizons. Pete Docter (Monsters, Inc. ) and Bob Peterson direct the film with consummate skill and taste, allowing the poignant moments to unfold without dialogue to Michael Giacchnio's vibrant score. Building on their work in The Incredibles and Ratatouille, the Pixar crew offers nuanced animation of the stylized characters. Even by Pixar's elevated standards, Up is an exceptional film that will appeal of audiences of all ages. Rated PG for some peril and action. --Charles Solomon

Stills from Up (Click for larger image)

Walt Disney Pictures and Pixar Animation Studios take moviegoers up, up and away on one of the funniest adventures of all time with their latest comedy-fantasy. Up follows the uplifting tale of 78-year-old balloon salesman Carl Fredricksen, who finally fulfills his lifelong dream of a great adventure when he ties thousands of balloons to his house and flies away to the wilds of South America. But he discovers all too late that his biggest nightmare has stowed away on the trip an overly optimistic 8-year-old Wilderness Explorer named Russell. Their journey to a lost world, where they encounter some strange, exotic and surprising characters, is filled with hilarity, emotion and wildly imaginative adventure.

Shrek (Full Screen Single Disc Edition)

Shrek (Full Screen Single Disc Edition) Review

See more picture

"Shrek" has made a name for itself in American pop culture as well as obtaining a place in cinematic history as being the first film to win the Academy Award for Best Animated Movie. Few of us will ever forget the original characters voiced by the likes of Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz, Mike Myers, and John Lithgow. Shrek is a giant orgre who attempts to resue his Princess from evil clutches, while at the same time trying to regain his rights to his swamp from the Lord Farquaad.
The plot was written mainly for children, but adults will love it as there are many adult-orriented jokes throughout the picture.
The movie went on to be one of the most successful animated movies of all-time grossing over 0,000,000 on a ,000,000 budget while spawning several sequels over the years.
The DVD is filled to the brim with extras including an alternate ending, behind-the-scenes featurette, commentary, and much more.
"Newsweek" calls "Shrek "smart and hilarious". Three unlikely heroes save their land from tyranny.

Shrek rocks! - Michelle Morrison - USA
To me, a great movie is one that you can watch over and over again and not get tired of it. Shrek is one of those movies. This is a film that has a freshness that lasts no matter how many times you watch it. It is absolutely hilarious and the parts are cast perfectly. Mike Myers' Shrek and Eddie Murphy's Donkey are a big reason the movie is so funny, and Cameron Diaz does a marvelous job as Princess Fiona. The "fractured fairy tale" point of view is a riot too. They managed to include just about every fairy tale character from every story in the plot and still make it funny. Grimm was never like this.

My favorite parts are when Shrek first meets Donkey and when Princess Fiona beats the crud out of the robbers in the woods, and the underlying themes are sweet: Shrek is an ugly ogre on the outside but has a heart of gold on the inside, and friends stick together and help each other out.

Finding Nemo [VHS]

Finding Nemo [VHS] Review

For all my reviews visit my website

I am NOT reviewing the DVD. Just the movies unless otherwise stated.

Please note that the rating above might not accurately reflect my thoughts, you will see a rating sentence at the end of the review.

it is definatly something fun to watch. It ain't the best Pixar film ever made, but it is one of the best. The biggest thing about the story is it seems to reflect Bambi, in Bambi, we saw how the evil of man is destroying our wildlife. While, in here, we see man destroying our undersea life. We see the epic struggles that good soles will go to rescue people they love.

Finding Nemo puts the usual "Hero Story" into a mix, it plays around with the usual story, but, I'm not gonna explain it all to you right now cause I'd sound like a professor.

So, Pixar is the weird place between good Disney Movies and bad Disney Movies, it still has that corny feeling and stereotyped characters, but it really gets to your heart and has a lot of meaning. I think I've also figured out a few mysteries behind this movie.

A. How did Dorry get her short-term memory loss? You say it runs in the family? Remember her questioning that? I think it came from the BANG when Marlin first meets up with Dorry. B. Some of the fish in the tanks are relatives to fish in the sea. For instance, the yellow BUBBLES fish, I personally think might be related to Dorry. Proving that her family is not short-term memory loss, just blond (no, just kidding...however the actor who played Dorry was blond.)C. Where did Nemo get his name? Anemone, A Nemo Ne. A Nemo Knee, Nemo has a bad fin, Knee is part of a human limb, see the connection?

This actually has a great side-story, I know most of the time a side-story isn't great, because it's usually a side-story, here, it's two stories in one. You can do a report on Marlin's adventures and Nemo's adventures with the same movie

I am an animal freak, so I really did like the huge abundance of lots of species in the movie. The humor is pretty good, not professional, just pretty good, worth a few laughs. Except, holly crap, the whale talk from Dorry, flipping hilarious!!!!

This movie also never seems to stop. There is a ton happening in this movie, and it is never slow (likely because of the amount of fish in the sea.) There is always multiple scenarios, and it just goes to show how hard a good father will go to rescue his offspring, especially after such an incident from at the begging. (BTW does the wife of Marlin sound familiar to you, similar actor I dunno.)

One great thing about kids movies these days (I can't believe I just said that,) is that there all original. This, is no exception. (Well, Where the Wild Things Are and Christmas Carol are remakes, but you get the jist.) I could go on about the symbolism, personification, metaphor and inner meaning about this movie, but I can't. Lemme just tell you, the whale is from Pinocchio, there is no denying that.

The Rating? This isn't a 4.5/5 star movie, but, I think it deserves it for everything it gives us. Now, don't get me wrong, the classic Disney is still the best, but, this was really good.

I, Da Ca$hman signing off. A delightful undersea world unfolds in Pixar's animated adventure Finding Nemo. When his son Nemo is captured by a scuba-diver, a nervous-nellie clownfish named Marlin (voiced by Albert Brooks) sets off into the vast--and astonishingly detailed--ocean to find him. Along the way he hooks up with a scatterbrained blue tang fish named Dory (Ellen DeGeneres), who's both helpful and a hindrance, sometimes at the same time. Faced with sharks, deep-sea anglers, fields of poisonous jellyfish, sea turtles, pelicans, and much more, Marlin rises above his neuroses in this wonderfully funny and nonstop thrill ride--rarely does more than 10 minutes pass without a sequence destined to become a theme park attraction. Pixar continues its run of impeccable artistic and economic success (their movies include Toy Story, A Bug's Life, Toy Story 2, and Monsters, Inc). Also featuring the voices of Willem Dafoe, Geoffrey Rush, and Allison Janney. --Bret Fetzer

Cars (Widescreen Edition)

Cars (Widescreen Edition) Review

There is no doubt that Pixar is fabulous with making movies for kids and adults, with also great messages and animation. First off the movie storyline is cute and adventurous. Alive cars, is a fun idea and keeps me interested. The animation is unbelievable (its even a 5 year old movie), and with it in Blu-Ray! Cars is a great movie and has great messages to give back and be grateful. Many kids will love this movie and it will always be my favorite. Cars is one of those movies that will never get boring for me and will be playing on my TV most of the time. From the acclaimed creators of TOY STORY, THE INCREDIBLES, and FINDING NEMO comes a high-octane adventure comedy that shows life is about the journey, not the finish line. Hotshot rookie race car Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) is living life in the fast lane until he hits a detour on his way to the most important race of his life. Stranded in Radiator Springs, a forgotten town on the old Route 66, he meets Sally, Mater, Doc Hudson (Paul Newman), and a variety of quirky characters who help him discover that there's more to life than trophies and fame. Revved up with a sensational soundtrack, featuring Rascal Flatts, Sheryl Crow, John Mayer, James Taylor, and others, plus exciting bonus features, including the exclusive short movie "Mater And The Ghostlight," CARS is full of freewheeling fun for everyone.

Disney Pixar Ultimate Movie Collection (Toy Story / Toy Story 2 / Finding Nemo / The Incredibles / A Bug's Life / Monsters, Inc. / Cars / Ratatouille) Review

Since I have (or will) review each of these movies separately, I thought the best way to review this box set is by ranking the films by the number of times my children have watched the films (2 boys, now aged 2 and 4.5, I've had the set for one year). I've also given a rating out of 5 stars based on my own opinion.

1. Cars (4 stars) - BY FAR the most popular with my boys. Hotshot racecar Lightning McQueen gets lost while being transported across country, and ends up in desert-rural Radiator Springs where life is considerably slower than he's used to. The opening race scene is amazingly good. At 2 hours, perhaps a little long for one sitting.

2. Toy Story 2 (5 stars) - Woody the Cowboy is kidnapped by a collector who intends to sell him to a toy museum in Japan, and it's up to Buzz and others to rescue him. Features a memorable visit to a Toys R Us-like store complete with a Barbie tour guide and a complete wall-full of Buzz Lightyears.

3. Ratatouille (4 stars) - a surprisingly engaging story about a rat who can cook. He helps a young sous-chef make something of himself. The "climax" with the food critic (and the eponymous dish of food) are surprisingly moving. Oddly, the quality of the computer animation makes the rats creepier than, say, the mice/rats in Disney's Great Mouse Detective or The Rescuers.

4. The Incredibles (5 stars) - Forced into retirement amid lawsuits and public relation disasters, Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl are try to raise kids (also with super powers) like a normal family. Craving adventure like the old days, Mr. Incredible gets drawn into a sinister plot and it's up to the rest of the family to rescue him. Great fun all the way through.

5. Finding Nemo (3 stars) - visually spectacular story of a father Clown Fish's attempt to find and rescue his son, captured by a diver and put into a dentist's aquarium. Unfortunately, it often feels like a string of action set pieces which makes it less enjoyable for an adult on repeated viewings.

6. Toy Story (5 stars) - the film that started it all: Sheriff Woody is replaced as Andy's favourite toy by upstart (and delusional) Buzz Lightyear. But when they get lost they must work together to find their way back to Andy's house. Great fun and stands up very well on repeated viewings.

All 6 of the above have, at some point, been my elder son's favourite. The final two are rarely (if ever) requested by either of my boys.

7. A Bug's Life (3 stars) - somewhat contrived second effort from Pixar, probably the least re-watchable film in this set. Cars and toys lend themselves especially well to computer animation. These bugs look blocky and generic, and the story is predictable animated adventure fare (and therefore a little dull).

8. Monster's Inc. (? stars) - I have never seen this film all the way through, because my boys simply do not watch it! Perhaps that tells you everything you need to know about the film.

It's too bad this box set is no longer available - it was -ish when I bought it, and I've certainly got my money's worth. All these films (except Bug's Life, and possibly Monster's Inc) are very rewatchable and can be enjoyed over and over, which is good because we all know how kids like to rewatch the same things over and over..... 6 of the 8 films are the 2-disc special editions (Cars and Ratatouille are not), so there's also lots of extras for the adult animation fan to enjoy after the kids have gone to bed. Disney-Pixar Ultimate Movie Collection includes eight of Pixar's full length films on DVD:

Toy Story (10th Anniversary Edition)
Experience a hilarious fantasy about the lives toys lead when they're left alone. Woody (Tom Hanks), an old-fashioned cowboy doll, is Andy's favorite. But when Andy gets Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen) for his birthday, the flashy new space hero takes Andy's room by storm! Their rivalry leaves them lost with a toy's worst nightmare -- Sid, the toy-torturing boy next door. Woody and Buzz must work together to escape, realizing along the way that they've got a friend ... in each other! Now, in a magnificent special edition, Toy Story shines even brighter. With an all-new enhanced picture and a spectacular home theater mix as well as exclusive bonus features, including deleted scenes and a retrospective special with director John Lasseter, this modern classic is one you'll enjoy to infinity and beyond.

A Bug's Life (Collector's Edition)
Journey inside the world of bugs in this epic of miniature proportions. Crawling with imaginative characters, hilarious laughs, and colorful animation, Walt Disney Pictures Presentation of A Pixar Animation Studios Film, A Bug's Life, will "delight everyone -- young, old, or six-legged." (People Magazine) In this 2-disc set you'll step behind the scenes for a look at the innovation and teamwork that resulted in this ingenious film. Loaded with bonus features — including animation not seen in theaters, abandoned sequences, and multiple surprises — A Bug's Life Collector's Edition offers something for everyone from families to film lovers!

Toy Story 2
A Golden Globe Award winner for Best Picture, Toy Story 2 has become a favorite all across the world, garnering praise from fans and critics everywhere. It's "an instant classic," raves New York Magazine. Now, in a 2-disc collector's edition with a sparkling theater mix, this groundbreaking animated adventure is even better! While Andy is away at summer camp, Woody is toynapped by Al, a greedy collector who needs Andy's favorite toy to complete his Roundup Gang collection. Together with Jessie, Bullseye, and the Prospector, Woody is on his way to a museum where he'll spend the rest of his life behind glass. It's up to Buzz, Mr. Potato Head, Hamm, Rex, and Slinky Dog to rescue their friend and remind him what being a toy is all about. Bursting with exclusive bonus features, including deleted scenes, outtakes, a new game, and much more, this hilarious comedy classic raises the bar on family entertainment to infinity and beyond.

Monsters, Inc.
From the Academy Award(R)-winning creators of Toy Story comes the computer-animated film that captured the hearts of fans and critics everywhere. Monsters, Inc., is "visually dazzling, action-packed, and hilarious" (Boston Herald), featuring groundbreaking animation, imaginative storytelling, and unforgettable voice talent. John Goodman stars as the lovable James P. Sullivan (Sulley) and Billy Crystal as his wisecracking best friend, Mike Wazowski. Top scarer Sulley and his enthusiastic Scare Assistant Mike work at Monsters, Inc., the largest scream-processing factory in Monstropolis. The main power source of the monster world is the collected screams of human children. Monsters believe children are dangerous and toxic, however, and they are scared silly when a little girl wanders into their world. Sulley and Mike do their best to return the girl home, but they face monstrous intrigue and some hilarious misadventures along the way. Monsters, Inc., is "supremely clever -- fun for kids and adults alike" (CBS-TV). Treat yourself to the most entertaining movie of the year with all-new exclusive bonus features and animation for monster laughs and monster fun.

Finding Nemo
FromThe New Yorker
The latest flood of wizardry from Pixar, whose productions, from Toy Story onward, have lent an indispensable vigor and wit to the sagging art of mainstream animation. Whether the new movie, directed by Andrew Stanton, will add much to that resuscitation is another matter. Albert Brooks provides the voice of Marlin, a non-amusing clown fish who sees his young son, Nemo, borne off in a diver's net. Not to be daunted, and plainly unfazed by the threat of both sharks and sentimentality, Marlin sets off to rescue his only child. You'll never guess how it ends. The technical skill on show is beyond question, but, as yet another computer-generated seascape ripples past, you may be tempted to ask whether that skill is driving the story; Marlin just drifts from one semi-heroic feat to the next, and the characters seldom get their hooks, or their jaws, into you with the pointed, snippy comedy that we have come to associate with Woody and Buzz Lightyear. Also, not to be impolite or anything, but how expressive is a fish, until it hits a grill? With the voices of Geoffrey Rush, Barry Humphries, Willem Dafoe, Allison Janney, and-the funniest of the shoal-Ellen DeGeneres. -Anthony Lane Copyright © 2006 The New Yorker

The Incredibles
After creating the last great traditionally animated film of the 20th century, The Iron Giant, filmmaker Brad Bird joined top-drawer studio Pixar to create this exciting, completely entertaining computer-animated film. Bird gives us a family of "supers," a brood of five with special powers desperately trying to fit in with the 9-to-5 suburban lifestyle. Of course, in a more innocent world, Bob and Helen Parr were superheroes, Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl. But blasted lawsuits and public disapproval forced them and other supers to go incognito, making it even tougher for their school-age kids, the shy Violet and the aptly named Dash. When a stranger named Mirage (voiced by Elizabeth Pena) secretly recruits Bob for a potential mission, the old glory days spin in his head, even if his body is a bit too plump for his old super suit.

Nominated for four Oscars, The Incredibles won for Best Animated Film and, in an unprecedented win for non-live-action films, Sound Editing.

Cars

Ratatouille
From the creators of Cars and The Incredibles comes a break-through comedy with something for everyone. With delightful new characters, experience Paris from an all-new perspective. It's "terrific movie making" raves Leonard Maltin of Entertainment Tonight. In one of Paris' finest restaurants, Remy, a determined young rat, dreams of becoming a renowned French chef. Torn between his family's wishes and his true calling, Remy and his pal Linguini set in motion a hilarious chain of events that turns the City of Lights upside down. Ratatouille is a treat you'll want to enjoy again and again.

Kung Fu Panda (Mandarin Chinese Edition)

Kung Fu Panda (Mandarin Chinese Edition) Review

See more picture

Alright guys, it's official- animation delivers the laughs better than *any* other style of comedy. This includes stand up routines, sitcoms with live studio audiences, or just your uncle Bob telling you a joke during a family visit. Kung Fu Panda absolutely rules, and the animation is one of the main reasons why.

I've actually wanted to watch Kung Fu Panda for quite a while now. I finally got the chance to watch it this afternoon. It certainly lived up to all the hype it received a couple years ago.

What makes it so enjoyable is the fact that the laughs aren't the only exciting thing about Kung Fu Panda- it's the outrageous and zanny action segments that really elevate this film to a level of untouchable greatness. We're talking a LOT of animated action here, folks.

The storyline is about a panda bear that's severely out of shape but dreams about becoming the ultimate master of kung fu fighting.

Eventually he's chosen to be given such a chance, with lots of special attention and guidance from his master (along with other friends). Unfortunately his laziness constantly prevents him from ever reaching his dream... until a really evil wild cat comes into the equation and pretty much forces the panda bear to stand up and fight.

I don't know what's most awesome about Kung Fu Panda- the exciting action and fighting segments, the actual humor and jokes involving all the animated animals communicating with each other, or just the brilliantly executed animation frames themselves.

One thing's for sure- you simply MUST watch this movie. Adults and children alike must watch it. You'll be laughing hard and heavy, I guarantee it!

Smart House Review

I first saw "Smart house" on the Disney Channel and loved it. I do admit it took me a while to decide if I wanted to record it but I finally did. But I also purchased the DVD from the Disney online store. My mom, brother and I enjoyed it. It might seem boring to some, so I suggest you rented first to see it or wait till it comes on the Disney channel but for me, I loved it. It's so awesome to see the cool features the house has. I just wished they showed more. Movie Description A teenage computer whiz enters a contest and wins a computerized, automated house, PAT, that can clean itself and fulfill any order. The kid decides to program the house to create an android version of itself (Katey Sagal), which proceeds to wreak havoc on everyone's life. As originally seen on The Disney Channel. If you're looking for a reality piece, this is not it. This is a movie for one of those days where one does not wish to think at all, and everything on the boob tube is too depressing. I will admit that buried in the core of this bit of fluff is a cautionary tale of Artificial Intelligence run amok, and if one dwells on that, the movie is as scary as the evening news. Otherwise, it's just a run-of-the-mill Disney formula family-needs-mother pic. The technology portrayed may, like that of Jules Verne, come to pass in the not too distant future. Much of it is available today, if one can afford it. I, for one, am not holding my breath.

Wall-E (Single-Disc Edition)

Wall-E (Single-Disc Edition) Review

See more picture

Wall-E,Disney's high grossing entry of 2008(released June/08),is a delightful look at our future(2805) whose protagonist just happens to be a little robotic trash compactor. On the surface it would seem to be something with only slight potential, but the magical folks at Pixar transform this seemingly mundane bot into something with feelings, something with dedication to his job and his charge(a cockroach!),endless determination and whose life we get caught up in and come to care about in short order. It is quite marvelous how it all unfolds.
The story takes place in 2805 and Earth is a deserted wasteland...waste,being the operative word. The entire population has long left earth(over a quarter of a million days ago!)and now lives on a huge spaceship;the Axiom.People, due largely to bone loss,no longer walk but fly around on hover chairs with their every whim and need catered to by a myriad of different bots.Every so many years the ship sends out probes to Earth to determine whether life has returned so THEY may return.
This is where our little rolling trash compactor by the name of Wall-E comes in.He lives in an old shipping-like container filled with many odds and ends he has collected over many years. He,along with his now non-functioning brethren, were left behind to clean up the Earth of all its' trash which forced the population to leave in the first place. He is still hard at it with a little cockroach for a companion when one of the Axioms life probes lands nearby. The ship comes and goes leaving behind a probe drone;think an egg with sleek wings! While the probe flits here and there seeking a sign of life Wall-E watches and falls in love. The probe isn't exactly discreet in its' search and is quick on the draw, disintegrating more than one object in its' way. This doesn't deter our love struck Wall-E however. When the probe(called Eve) finds life it shuts down, sends out an automatic beacon and is later picked up by the mother craft.Wall-E follows his lady love into space and back to the Axiom.
At the Axiom Eve delivers her precious cargo to the Captain but there is a conspiracy afoot. It seems an old message from the president relaying a message about Earth at one point being uninhabitable has been interpreted by the bots, who literally control just about every aspect of life aboard the ship now,as a directive to NEVER return. So they try and destroy the evidence.Between a love struck Wall-E trying to help his lady love and a now newly invigorated ships Captain who realizes they must go back, they eventually quash the robotic uprising and put the Axiom on a heading for Earth.
The story runs on many levels with its' obvious love story, its good against evil plot and a clear environmental message of how we must protect the Earth. The animation is visibly striking, rich in detail and life like;especially in scenes showing the vast wasteland that has become our planet.
Technically the film has been transferred beautifully and is in its original widescreen a/r.Extras abound in this three disc set and they include:A Digital copy,The Pixar Story,Deleted scenes, some "hilarious moments" from the movie,a look at the Buy N Large Corp,"Lots of Bots"which includes games, several making of featurettes,a close look at Wall-E's friends, two animated shorts:"Burn-E" and the theatrical short which accompanied the movie when first run,"Presto",audio commentary by the director,a tour of the universe by Wall-E and the sounds of Wall-E.It's an extra packed edition to be sure.
I do have one complaint about this three disc set however. The discs come in cardboard pull out sections;the left pull out has one disc in it(#1) and the right pull out has the other two discs, feathered over one another. When I saw this and started pulling them out to examine them I thought"Oh boy, here we go.I can see them all being scratched or scuffed".But I was pleasantly surprised to find they were fine. However taking them in and out(especially the 2nd and 3rd ones)I think will eventually cause scuffs. So for my own peace of mind I elected to put them into a separate double holding DVD snap case. This is positively awful thinking on Disney's part to be so cavalier in how they package these things.Of course it's more money for them if you have to get new ones.So beware my friends.
In conclusion this 3 DVD set of the Disney/Pixar 2008 smash Wall-E is a crowd pleaser from start to finish. The characters we see are fascinating to the nth degree and the plot moves at a good and steady pace. The animation by Pixar is top notch all the way through and is startlingly real especially in its' portrayal of Earth in the future. In this 3-disc set beware of the bad packaging that these discs are put into.If you can overcome this hurdle, sit back and relax and enjoy another wonderful adventure from the imaginative folks at Pixar studios. The highly acclaimed director of Finding Nemo and the creative storytellers behind Cars and Ratatouille transport you to a galaxy not so far away for a new cosmic comedy adventure about a determined robot named Wall-E.
After hundreds of lonely years of doing what he was built for, the curious and lovable Wall-E discovers a new purpose in life when he meets a sleek search robot named Eve. Join them and a hilarious cast of characters on a fantastic journey across the universe. Transport yourself to a fascinating new world with Disney-Pixar's latest adventure, now even more astonishing on DVD and loaded with bonus features, including the exclusive animated short film Burn-E. Wall-E is a film your family will want to enjoy over and over again.

One of the great love stories of all time - R. C Sheehy - Foxboro,MA USA
It's hard to believe but an animated film, featuring two robots as its centerpiece, is one of the best love stories of all time. Wall-E simply captures and perfectly evokes the idea of love between two beings and shows both the sweetness and heartfelt emotion that are found in an ideal love story. The devotion that Wall-E shows to EVE and what she returns to him are among some of the most beautiful ever filmed.

The movie has a number of funny and downright hysterical parts to it and we even can see a number of aspects of screwball comedy in the story line. Wall-E, the lead character is simply put endearing and loving all at once. EVE plays the wise love interest which is a nice turn of events from traditional comedies.

All in all this is a great movie and if you have one spot on your shelf for a classic DVD, this is the one you need!

Toy Story 2: Special Edition - DVD

Toy Story 2: Special Edition - DVD Review

'Toy Story' was a landmark film for Disney and animation in general. After the mediocre second film in Pixar's 'A Bugs Life', the toys decided to come back to town. Now, of course with any sequel loads of questions come pouring in as well as a great deal of skepticism. A sequel rarely lives up to its predecessor and history had shown that a great deal. While the plot was told to the fans way before the movies released, it sounded great, but no one was going to say anything until the movie hit theaters. In 1999 the world was graces with 'Toy Story 2' and did it live up to the original? The answer is yes!

'Toy Story 2' did a great deal of things that were right on target to making a great movie. The first positive was bringing the cast back. Tom Hanks & Tim Allen reprised their roles as Woody and Buzz and just did what they did in the first movie. Of course with a new movie it means new toys. We are introduced to some great new characters that have just as an important role to play as the originals. While it may take a little time to get use to as the movie reaches it's end you are left quite satisfied. The second positive was the story its self. This new movie put these wonderful characters into a much larger situation than just hanging around in Andy's room. The toys encounter the challenges of the outside world, at least for a toy and the humor that is thrown in as well as a few movie references all worked perfectly. Of course along with the adventure side of the movie another major positive in this movie comes with a very emotional and very real message. 'Toy Story 2' introduces the fans to the concept of children growing up and leaving their toys behind. The message is summed up by the new character Jessie and a wonderful song preformed by Sarah MacLauchlan. The montage that goes with the song is just so real and somber you can't believe that this is something that ends up in a movie like Toy Story. I think that is why people of all ages love this movie. It's because of the fact that Pixar, while it has the opportunity to make a sequel, they want it to be loved by everyone. Pixar films, while they may gross millions at the box office are just filled with so much emotion and heart. Since the first 'Toy Story', there have been 10 Pixar films added to the library and so many people love them, quote them and even own them. Each one is such a great film and filled with so much that people appreciate and it's because of the thought and heart that is added to each distinct film is why they are appreciated as much as they are.

'Toy Story 2', now that the third and hopefully final installment has been added, is probably the weakest of the 3 films. Still, it is not to say that 2 is a bad film. It's probably because of the fact that 'Toy Story 2' was just a little larger and deeper and it takes just a bit of time to get use to. Once you have seen the final installment, you will find out just how important this film is to the saga and it will make you appreciate it so much more. I enjoyed 'Toy Story 2' so much and would recommend it to anyone young or old.
Andy heads off to cowboy camp leaving his toys to their own devices. Things shift into high gear when an obsessive toy collector named Al McWhiggin (owner of Al's Toy Barn) kidnaps Woody. At Al's apartment, Woody discovers that he is a highly valued collectible from a 1950s TV show called Woody's Roundup, and he meets the other prized toys from that show, Jessie the Cowgirl, Bullseye the Horse, and Stinky Pete the Prospector. Back at the scene of the crime, Buzz Lightyear and the other toys from Andy's room, Mr. Potato Head, Slinky Dog, Rex and Hamm spring into action to rescue their pal from winding up as a museum piece. The toys get into one predicament after another in their daring race to get Woody before Andy returns.

Bonus Features include: Director commentary, Toy Story 3 Sneak Peek: The Characters, Buzz Lightyear Mission Logs: International Space Station, Paths to Pixar: Technical Artists, Studio Stories: Toy Story 2 Sleep Deprivation Lab, Pinocchio, The Movie Vanishes, Pixar's Zoetrop, Celebrating our Friend Joe Ranft

Ratatouille (Mandarin Chinese Edition)

Ratatouille (Mandarin Chinese Edition) Review

The greatest part of getting older is becoming a grandma! If this hadn't happened I never would have gotten to watch the Pixar movies and what could be better than watching them with a kid you love?
IMHO, "Ratatouille" is just another Pixar masterpiece. I would buy one without seeing any previews or knowing anything about the movie. That's just how much I have enjoyed everything they have created.

Pixar's original classic - Mandarin Chinese Edition.
One key point: if you can get over the natural gag reflex of seeing hundreds of rodents swarming over a restaurant kitchen, you will be free to enjoy the glory of Ratatouille, a delectable Pixar hit. Our hero is Remy, a French rat with a cultivated palate, who rises from his humble beginnings to become head chef at a Paris restaurant. How this happens is the stuff of Pixar magic, that ineffable blend of headlong comedy, seamless technology, and wonder (in the latter department, this movie's views of nighttime Paris are on a par with French cinema at its most lyrical). Director Brad Bird (The Incredibles) doesn't quite keep all his spinning plates in the air, but the gags are great and the animation amazingly expressive--Remy's shrugs and nods are nimbler than many flesh-and-blood actors can manage. Brad Bird's style is more quick-hit and less resonant than the approach of Pixar honcho John Lasseter, but it's hard to complain about a movie that cooks up such bountiful pleasure. --Robert Horton
