Shrek (Full Screen Single Disc Edition) Review
"Shrek" has made a name for itself in American pop culture as well as obtaining a place in cinematic history as being the first film to win the Academy Award for Best Animated Movie. Few of us will ever forget the original characters voiced by the likes of Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz, Mike Myers, and John Lithgow. Shrek is a giant orgre who attempts to resue his Princess from evil clutches, while at the same time trying to regain his rights to his swamp from the Lord Farquaad.
The plot was written mainly for children, but adults will love it as there are many adult-orriented jokes throughout the picture.

To me, a great movie is one that you can watch over and over again and not get tired of it. Shrek is one of those movies. This is a film that has a freshness that lasts no matter how many times you watch it. It is absolutely hilarious and the parts are cast perfectly. Mike Myers' Shrek and Eddie Murphy's Donkey are a big reason the movie is so funny, and Cameron Diaz does a marvelous job as Princess Fiona. The "fractured fairy tale" point of view is a riot too. They managed to include just about every fairy tale character from every story in the plot and still make it funny. Grimm was never like this.
My favorite parts are when Shrek first meets Donkey and when Princess Fiona beats the crud out of the robbers in the woods, and the underlying themes are sweet: Shrek is an ugly ogre on the outside but has a heart of gold on the inside, and friends stick together and help each other out.
